Caroling and Family Skating
December 22
This past week Grade 1 released their Monarch butterfly. We have been learning about growth and change in God`s creation. The butterfly is an amazing example of God`s creation plan for his creatures.

This morning we came together as a school community to remember and pray for the children who never returned home & the survivors of the residential schools, as well as their families & communities.
Afterwards the 7/8 class had an activity planned for each of the younger grades to do in their classrooms related to what we had spoke about at the assembly.
Have a great weekend!

β¨ Tomorrow! β¨
Friday, September 30!
We will come together as a school community in a spirit of reconciliation and hope because every child matters.
Wear your orange shirt and donβt forget to bring along $.25 for Edudeo.

Mr.Matos spoke at the assembly this morning about how the money our school donated has benefited schools in the Dominican Republic. They were able to build more classrooms, get training for teachers, uniforms for students and help pay for kids to attend the schools that could not afford it.
He spoke to the students about challenges kids in parts of the DR face like having 50 kids in the classroom, not getting meals to eat before school and not being allowed to attend school. It was an informative time of learning and reminding HCS why we help raise money for EduDeo.
Mr.Matos said how grateful he is for all our contributions, and that it means so much to the kids who get to attend these schools. We partner with EduDeo through a past HCS Alumni, Ryan Gelensye, who also expressed his appreciation for this partnership.

βοΈ Tomorrow morning - Everyone is welcome! βοΈ
Did you know when HCS fundraised for our new school build through the "Capital Campaign", we also tithed a percentage of those funds to support building Christian schools in other countries?
Many of these schools were built in the Dominican Republic through "Sinergia Transformational Leadership Foundation".
We encourage anyone who was a donor to the "Capital Campaign", members of HCS or friends of HCS to join us on September 26 at 9am to hear Mr. Mario Matos, the Executive Director of Sinergia. Mr.Matos will share how our partnership has benefitted the schools in the Dominican Republic, and the work they are doing through this ministry.
