Huron Christian School

Enrolment at HCS

Enrolment presently stands at 168 students from JK through Grade 8. Enrolment continues to be open to children from all Christian families and denominations.

Would you like to enrol your children as students as Huron Christian School?

Here are some steps you can take to get the process going:

Step 1 - Contact Us

We are happy to sit down with you to talk about HCS and its programs, and how your child will grow academically, spiritually and socially. We'll also discuss the school's expectations and what you as parents can expect from the school. We'll cover a variety of topics, including what Christian education involves; Christian faith background; school programs; your child's academic background; special needs your child may have; tuition fees and payment process; transportation; and any questions or concerns you may have as a parent. We'll take you on a tour of our facilities. We suggest that you visit during school hours so that you can see the school in operation and meet our staff. Why not bring your child so that they, too, can experience the daily life at HCS? You'll go home with an information package that provides all the details about educational programs, enrolment fees and transportation.

Step 2 - Fill out the Enrolment Form

When you are satisfied that all your questions have been answered, and you believe that this is the school for your children, you will fill out the enrolment form. Along with the form, you'll need to send in a copy of your child's birth certificate or passport.

Pastoral Reference

  • Fiill in your name in the first line
  • Provide it to your Pastor to fill out
  • The Pastor can return it to you or directly to our office
  • All applications must have a pastoral reference before they may be considered.

Membership

  • Membership in the Huron Christian School Society allows you to participate fully at membership meetings, vote on school issues and serve on committees and the Board.
  • If you wish to become a member, please read through the application and sign your agreement with the statements.
  • The membership fee of $400 is included in your tuition. If you would like to claim the Membership Fee on your income tax, a separate cheque must be written and that amount can be deducted from the tuition.

Registration Fee

  • $500 tuition deposit fee is required with the application.
  • Should your application be denied for any reason, this fee will be returned to you.
  • If it is accepted and you choose not to attend, the deposit is non-refundable.
  • If you are attending, the deposit will be credited towards your tuition.

Step 3 - Admissions Meeting & Assessments

Your forms will be forwarded to the Admissions Committee for consideration. The principal will contact you to set up a visit in order to review your application and answer any questions you may have. The Resource Staff will also set up an appointment to have your child assessed. After your visit and the assessments have been completed, a recommendation will be made to the Board.

Step 4 - Tuition Payments

Once the Board approves the enrolment, you will be notified, and the Finance Committee takes over. You will receive a tuition statement and information about how to make payments. Once tuition payments are in place, your family is formally enrolled at Huron Christian School.

Step 5 - Uniform Fittings

At Huron Christian School student uniforms are mandatory. Once your family is enrolled, the Uniform Coordinator will contact you to make arrangements to have your children fitted for the uniforms. Normally these are in stock and can be purchased from our supply.

Step 6 - School Visit

Depending on the time of year or your personal circumstance, you may also wish to have your child(ren) visit the school for a morning or afternoon so that they can get to know their teacher and future classmates.

If at any time you have any questions, please feel free to contact us in the office. We're here Monday through Friday, and we would be happy to talk to you!
